Broadband Passive Optical Network (BPON)

A Broadband Passive Optical Network (BPON) is a technology that delivers high-speed internet, cable TV, and phone services using fiber optic cables. It consists of a central office connected to multiple homes or businesses through a network of passive (non-powered) splitters and fiber lines. Light signals carrying data are transmitted through the fiber, providing fast and reliable service over long distances. BPON is efficient because it uses passive components that don’t require power, reducing cost and complexity while offering high bandwidth to support multiple users simultaneously.
