British Optical Association

The British Optical Association (BOA) was a professional body established in 1895 that unified and regulated opticians and eye care practitioners in the UK. It set standards for training, quality, and ethical practice within the optical industry. The BOA played a key role in advancing optometry as a respected healthcare profession, promoting high standards of eye care, and supporting the education and certification of practitioners. It later merged with other organizations to form what is now known as the College of Optometrists, continuing its legacy of promoting excellence in eye health and optics.
