British Honduras

British Honduras was the name of a British colony located in Central America, where modern-day Belize is situated. Established in the 17th century, it served primarily as a logging area for mahogany and other hardwoods. The colony developed a plantation economy and had significant interactions with indigenous populations and African slaves. In 1964, it gained self-government, and in 1981, British Honduras became an independent nation known as Belize. Today, Belize is known for its rich cultural heritage, diverse ecosystems, and tourism, particularly in areas like the barrier reef and ancient Mayan ruins.
