British Columbia Railway
The British Columbia Railway (BC Rail) was a major freight railway operator in western Canada, primarily serving British Columbia. Established in 1912 and privatized in 2004, it transported goods like forestry products, minerals, and other commodities across the region. BC Rail played a vital role in the province’s economy by connecting remote communities and facilitating trade. In 2004, it was bought by the Canadian National Railway (CN), a larger national rail company. BC Rail also historically provided passenger services and was known for its extensive rail network across diverse terrains, including mountains, forests, and coastal areas.
