Breach of Duty
A breach of duty occurs when someone with a responsibility to act carefully or reasonably fails to do so, resulting in harm to another person. In legal terms, if a person or organization has a duty to prevent injury or damage and they neglect that duty, they may be considered to have breached it. For example, a driver must follow traffic laws to keep others safe; if they run a red light and cause an accident, they have breached their duty of care. This concept is fundamental in establishing liability in negligence cases.
