Bravais lattice types
Bravais lattices are the fundamental patterns that describe how atoms are arranged in a crystal. There are 14 different types, grouped into seven categories, based on the symmetry and shape of these arrangements—such as cubic, tetragonal, orthorhombic, hexagonal, rhombohedral, monoclinic, and triclinic. Each type has a specific repeating pattern that extends in three dimensions, serving as a blueprint for the entire crystal structure. These patterns determine the crystal's properties, like strength and how it interacts with light. Think of them as different ways to tile space with identical building blocks to form a crystal.
