Brady v. United States

Brady v. United States (1970) is a Supreme Court case that addressed whether a defendant’s plea agreement can include multiple alleged crimes, which might be viewed as a "package deal," and whether this arrangement is fair and voluntary. The Court held that as long as the plea is made voluntarily and with full understanding of the consequences, even a complex plea involving multiple charges can be valid. It emphasized the importance of ensuring that defendants are informed and not coerced, allowing courts reasonable flexibility in accepting plea bargains that serve the interests of justice.
