Brad Katsuyama

Brad Katsuyama is a Canadian economist and former financial executive, best known for uncovering the practice of high-frequency trading (HFT) that can give certain traders an unfair advantage in stock markets. He identified that some traders were using rapid, automated algorithms to gain quicker access to market information, effectively moving prices in their favor before others could respond. This led him to create the IEX Group, a fairer stock exchange designed to level the playing field for all investors. Katsuyama’s work has increased awareness of market fairness and contributed to discussions on improving transparency in financial markets.
