Box H/ACA snoRNAs
Box H/ACA snoRNAs are specialized molecules within cells that help modify other RNAs, particularly a type called ribosomal RNA (rRNA) essential for protein synthesis. They are characterized by specific structural features called "boxes" (H and ACA motifs) and form small, hairpin-shaped structures. These snoRNAs guide the addition of chemical groups called pseudouridines to rRNA, which enhances the stability and function of the ribosome. They work as part of a protein complex, ensuring accurate and efficient modification of rRNA during cell growth and protein production.
