Bowman's Bypass

Bowman's Bypass is a surgical procedure used to treat kidney stones that are lodged in the upper part of the ureter (the tube connecting the kidney to the bladder). When a stone causes a blockage that can't be removed by standard methods, this procedure creates an alternative pathway around the obstruction. Surgeons make an incision to connect the kidney directly to the bladder, bypassing the blocked area. This ensures urine can flow freely from the kidney to the bladder, relieving pain and preventing further kidney damage. It's typically reserved for complex cases where other treatments are ineffective.
