Bowie-Dick test
The Bowie-Dick test is a routine check used in sterilization processes, especially in healthcare, to ensure that autoclaves (steam sterilizers) are working properly. It involves running a special test pack that contains a porous indicator and a test device. When the sterilizer functions correctly, steam penetrates evenly and sterilizes the pack. The test helps detect if there's a problem like air leaks or inadequate steam penetration, which could prevent proper sterilization. Conducting this test regularly helps ensure medical instruments are properly sterilized, maintaining safety and preventing infections.
