Botulinum toxin types
Botulinum toxin has several types (A, B, C, D, E, F, and G), each produced by a bacteria called Clostridium. Types A and B are the most commonly used in medicine and cosmetics to treat muscle spasms, wrinkles, and certain medical conditions. They work by blocking nerve signals to muscles, preventing them from contracting. Different types vary slightly in how long their effects last and how they are used. While all are derived from the same bacteria, they are purified and formulated for specific medical or cosmetic purposes.
