Bothrops bilineatus
Bothrops bilineatus, commonly known as the yellow-tailed lancehead, is a venomous pit viper snake found in South America, particularly in rainforests. It has a slender body with a noticeable yellow or cream stripe along its sides and a yellow tail, which is often used to lure prey. Its venom can cause tissue damage and swelling, but bites are usually not fatal if treated promptly. The snake is shy and tends to avoid humans, but it plays an important role in controlling rodent populations. It is primarily arboreal, meaning it spends much of its time in trees.
