Bosnia and Herzegovina (Srebrenica)

The Srebrenica massacre was a tragic event during Bosnia's 1992-1995 civil war, where more than 8,000 Bosniak (Bosnian Muslim) men and boys were systematically murdered by Bosnian Serb forces in July 1995. The massacre occurred in the town of Srebrenica, which was declared a "safe area" by the United Nations but was overwhelmed by the military offensive. It is considered the worst atrocity in Europe since World War II and has been classified as a genocide. The event highlighted the brutality of ethnic conflict in Bosnia and led to international efforts for justice and reconciliation.
