Borgeet
Borgeet is a classical form of devotional music originating from Assam, India, associated with the saint-reformer Srimanta Sankardev. These musical compositions blend poetic lyrics with melodious tunes, often expressing devotion, philosophy, and spiritual longing. Borgeet is performed with a simple yet elegant musical style, using traditional instruments like the khol (drum) and the instrument called the nattak, accompanied by harmonies that evoke reverence and introspection. It plays a vital role in Assamese culture, especially in religious and cultural ceremonies, fostering spiritual connection and preserving traditional Assamese musical heritage.
