Border Industrialization Program

The Border Industrialization Program was an initiative mostly in Mexico to promote manufacturing near the U.S.-Mexico border. It allowed companies to set up factories close to the border region where goods could be assembled or produced with customs advantages, making it easier and cheaper to export products to the U.S. This program aimed to boost economic growth, create jobs, and encourage industrial development in northern Mexico by attracting foreign investment and facilitating cross-border trade. It played a significant role in Mexico's economic integration with the United States during the late 20th century.
