Boom operator

A boom operator is a professional responsible for handling a long pole, called a boom mic, equipped with a microphone. Their job is to position the microphone close to actors or sound sources on a film or television set without capturing unwanted noise or interfering with the scene visually. They work closely with the sound team to ensure clear, high-quality audio is recorded during filming, often adjusting the mic’s position in real-time to maintain optimal sound quality throughout various shots and action sequences.
