Boniface of Montferrat
Boniface of Montferrat was a nobleman and military leader from the 12th century, known for leading the Fourth Crusade in 1202-1204. Originally a prince in Italy, he became a key figure in European politics and crusading efforts. During the Fourth Crusade, he was chosen as the leader of the Crusader army but played a significant role in diverting the Crusade from its original goal of the Holy Land to capture Constantinople, the Byzantine Empire's capital. His leadership influenced the course of medieval history by helping establish the Latin Empire in Byzantium.
