Bone transport

Bone transport is a surgical technique used to repair large bone defects, often caused by injury or infection. It involves initially creating a controlled break in the bone and then slowly moving a segment of healthy bone across the defect using a special device called an external fixator. As the bone gradually shifts, new bone tissue forms behind the moving segment, filling the gap. This method allows the body to regenerate bone naturally, promoting healing without the need for bone grafts, and helps restore function and stability to the affected limb.
