Bone density assessments
Bone density assessments measure the strength and health of your bones, primarily to detect osteoporosis or risk of fractures. The most common method is a DEXA scan, which uses low-dose X-rays to evaluate bone mineral content, typically at the hip and spine. The results give a T-score indicating how your bone density compares to that of a healthy young adult. A higher score suggests stronger bones, while a lower score indicates weaker bones that may be at greater risk of breaking. These assessments help your healthcare provider recommend appropriate prevention or treatment strategies.
