Bombay Marine

Bombay Marine, established in 1884, was an Indian maritime company originally part of the older Scindia Steam Navigation Company. It specialized in shipping and logistics, operating cargo ships primarily along India's coast and to international destinations. The company played a significant role in developing India's maritime trade during the colonial period and was known for its fleet of vessels that facilitated transportation of goods such as textiles, spices, and other commodities. In 1977, Bombay Marine was rebranded as the Shipping Corporation of India (SCI), which continues to be a major player in India's shipping industry today.
