Bogd Khan
The Bogd Khan was the spiritual and political leader of Mongolia from 1911 to 1924. He was considered both a highest-ranking Buddhist lama and the sovereign of Mongolia, guiding the country's religious life and asserting its independence from China and Russia. His leadership marked a period when Mongolia declared independence, but his authority declined with the rise of communist influence. The Bogd Khan's role was akin to a spiritual monarch, blending religious authority with national leadership, until political changes led to the establishment of a communist government replacing his rule.
