Bog bodies
Bog bodies are human cadavers that have been exceptionally preserved in peat bogs, primarily in northern Europe. The acidic, low-oxygen, and cold conditions of bogs slow decay and prevent bacteria from breaking down tissues, leaving the bodies remarkably intact, often with skin, hair, and clothing preserved. Many bog bodies date back thousands of years and provide valuable insights into ancient cultures, diets, and rituals. Their preservation is a natural process unique to bog environments, offering a rare glimpse into past human history and preservation techniques.
