Boers
The Boers, also known as Afrikaners, are descendants of Dutch-speaking settlers in South Africa. They migrated there in the 17th and 18th centuries, establishing farming communities focused on rural, agricultural lifestyles. The term "Boer" means "farmer" in Dutch. Historically, they played a central role in South Africa's history, especially during the various conflicts with British colonial forces in the 19th and early 20th centuries, notably the Anglo-Boer Wars. Today, the term mainly refers to their cultural heritage, language (Afrikaans), and the unique identity of their communities within South Africa.
