Boer settlers

Boer settlers were Dutch-descended farmers who moved into southern Africa in the 17th and 18th centuries, establishing farms and communities mainly in what is now South Africa. They sought land for farming and economic opportunities, developing a distinct culture and language called Afrikaans. Over time, they faced conflicts with indigenous groups and British colonizers, especially during the 19th and early 20th centuries. The Boer settlers played a significant role in South Africa's history, notably in the Boer Wars, which were conflicts over independence and control of the region. Their legacy influences South African culture, language, and history today.
