Boeing 737 MAX incidents
The Boeing 737 MAX experienced two fatal crashes (Lion Air in 2018 and Ethiopian Airlines in 2019) that were linked to a software system called MCAS. This system automatically pushed the nose of the plane down if it detected a potential stall, but it sometimes overreacted due to faulty sensor data. Pilots weren’t initially fully informed about MCAS, making it difficult to respond correctly. After investigations, Boeing updated the software and improved pilot training. The incidents led to worldwide grounding of the MAX fleet, emphasizing the importance of software safety and pilot awareness in modern aviation.
