Bodoland Territorial Region
The Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) is an autonomous administrative area in northeastern India, established to recognize the unique cultural identity of the Bodo people. It comprises four districts of Assam—Baksa, Bodoland (Kokrajhar), Chirang, and Baksa—forming a self-governing region with its own elected council. The BTR aims to promote regional development, preserve Bodo language and culture, and ensure greater local governance. It was created as a result of peace agreements between the government and Bodo groups, contributing to stability and participatory governance in the region.
