BMP (Basic Multilingual Plane)

The Basic Multilingual Plane (BMP) is a set of characters used in computer text encoding, covering most common characters from almost all languages, plus symbols and emojis. It includes 65,536 unique code points (numbers) ranging from 0 to 65,535, which are used to digitally represent letters, symbols, and other characters worldwide. The BMP is part of the Unicode standard, designed to support consistent text representation across different systems. Characters outside this range are in supplementary planes, used for rare or newer symbols. The BMP is fundamental for everyday writing, making digital communication more inclusive and standardized.
