Blue whales are the largest animals on Earth, reaching up to 100 feet in length and weighing as much as 200 tons. They are marine mammals that live in oceans worldwide, primarily feeding on tiny krill by filtering large volumes of seawater through baleen plates in their mouths. Despite their immense size, blue whales are gentle giants and rely on sound for communication across vast distances. They are migratory, traveling thousands of miles seasonally. Blue whales are currently endangered due to past extensive whaling, but conservation efforts are helping their populations recover.
