Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans Act of 2019

The Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans Act of 2019 expanded VA benefits to Navy veterans who served offshore during the Vietnam War, known as “blue water” veterans. Previously, these veterans faced barriers to claiming benefits related to Agent Orange exposure because they served outside Vietnam’s inland waters. The law presumes that these veterans were exposed to Agent Orange, a herbicide linked to health issues, allowing them to access disability compensation, healthcare, and other benefits more easily. It recognizes their service and potential health risks, ensuring they receive the support they deserve.
