Blue Grass
Bluegrass is a genre of American roots music that blends elements of folk, country, and blues. It originated in the 1940s, primarily in the Appalachian region, with influences from traditional Scottish and Irish music. Characterized by the use of acoustic instruments like the banjo, mandolin, guitar, fiddle, and upright bass, bluegrass emphasizes rapid tempos and intricate melodies. The genre often features tight harmonies and improvisation, making live performances energetic and engaging. Its name comes from Blue Grass Boys, the band led by Bill Monroe, who is considered the "father of bluegrass."
