Blue Division

The Blue Division was a volunteer military unit formed by Spain during World War II, mainly composed of Spanish soldiers. They fought alongside Nazi Germany on the Eastern Front against the Soviet Union, primarily aiming to support their anti-communist stance. The division was not officially part of the German military but operated under German command. Its existence reflected Spain's desire to oppose communism without formally entering the war. The Blue Division's actions were limited to specific campaigns, and after the war, many of its members faced political consequences in Spain.
