Blood Oxygen Monitoring
Blood oxygen monitoring measures the amount of oxygen carried by your red blood cells, which is vital for your body's function. This is typically done using a device called a pulse oximeter that clips onto your finger. It sends light through your skin and detects how much light is absorbed by oxygen-rich blood. The device then provides a percentage called SpO₂, indicating how well your blood is oxygenated. Normal levels usually range from 95% to 100%. Monitoring your blood oxygen can help detect breathing problems, lung or heart conditions, and assess your overall health status.
