Bloemfontein Conference

The Bloemfontein Conference was a meeting held in 1916 between British authorities and leaders of the South African Union to discuss issues related to World War I and South Africa’s role in it. The two main topics were whether South Africa should participate in the war on the side of the Allies and how to address political tensions within the country. The conference aimed to foster unity and cooperation during a challenging time. While it did not resolve all disagreements, it helped shape South Africa’s wartime policies and fostered dialogue among different factions.
