Blind Source Separation

Blind Source Separation (BSS) is a technique used to identify and isolate individual signals that are mixed together, without knowing the original sources or how they were combined. Imagine hearing several conversations at once in a crowded room; BSS aims to separate each person's voice from the collective sound. It is commonly used in audio processing, medical imaging, and communication systems to recover original signals, such as distinguishing different speakers in a recording or extracting clean brain signals from noisy data. The process "blindly" accomplishes this without prior knowledge of the sources or mixing process.
