blast injury

A blast injury occurs when an explosion causes a sudden release of energy that impacts the body through shock waves and flying debris. It can cause damage in several ways: primary injuries from the blast’s pressure wave affecting air-filled organs such as the lungs and ears; secondary injuries from fragments or debris striking the body; tertiary injuries when the force throws a person against objects; and quaternary injuries, like burns or inhalation of toxic gases. These injuries can range from minor to severe, affecting multiple parts of the body, and often require urgent medical attention.
