bladder lithotripsy

Bladder lithotripsy is a medical procedure used to break apart bladder stones—hardened mineral deposits that form in the bladder. Using specialized instruments, such as a cystoscope (a thin tube with a camera), a doctor locates the stones and then applies energy, like ultrasonic waves or laser, to break them into small pieces. These fragments can then be removed easily or allowed to pass naturally through the urinary system. The procedure aims to relieve symptoms like pain, difficulty urinating, or infections caused by the stones, restoring normal bladder function.
