Blackpowder

Blackpowder, also known as gunpowder, is an early type of explosive made from a mixture of sulfur, charcoal, and potassium nitrate (saltpeter). When ignited, it rapidly produces hot gases and smoke, creating a strong, expanding force. Historically, blackpowder was used in firearms, cannons, fireworks, and mining. Its effectiveness relies on the quick combustion producing enough pressure to propel projectiles or generate visual effects. Blackpowder's composition and combustion properties have influenced the development of modern explosives and propellants, though it is less powerful and more smoky compared to newer formulations.
