Blackfoot Confederacy

The Blackfoot Confederacy is a historic alliance of four Indigenous tribes—the Siksika, Kainawa (Kainai), Pikani (Peigan), and others—located primarily in present-day Montana and Alberta. They shared cultural practices, language, and political organization, working together for mutual defense and resources. The Confederacy played a significant role in regional history, commerce, and resistance during European contact and settlement. Today, they continue to preserve their cultural heritage and sovereignty while actively participating in legal and political matters affecting Indigenous communities.
