Black Star Line
The Black Star Line was a shipping company established in the early 20th century by Marcus Garvey and his organization, the Universal Negro Improvement Association (UNIA). Its goal was to promote economic independence and unity among African descendants by providing transportation for people and goods between Africa, the Caribbean, and the United States. By doing so, it aimed to foster Black self-reliance and cultural pride. Although it faced financial and organizational challenges, the Black Star Line symbolized efforts toward racial empowerment and the promotion of African heritage worldwide.
