Black Mountain (Welsh: Y Mynydd Du)
Black Mountain, or Y Mynydd Du in Welsh, is a prominent range of high, rugged hills located in South Wales, spanning the counties of Powys and Carmarthenshire. Part of the Brecon Beacons National Park, it features dramatic moorlands, rocky outcrops, and expansive scenery. The highest point is Pen y Fan at 2,906 feet (886 meters). The area is popular for outdoor activities like hiking and mountain biking, offering stunning views and a sense of natural wilderness. Its name reflects the dark, coal-colored terrain and extensive heather-covered moors that characterise the landscape.
