Black Ice
Black ice is a thin, nearly transparent layer of ice that forms on road surfaces, often blending in with the pavement. It occurs when moisture freezes quickly, typically during cold weather or when temperatures hover around freezing. Because it looks like wet pavement, drivers might not realize it's icy, making it especially dangerous and increasing the risk of slipping or losing control. Caution is advised when driving in cold, damp conditions, particularly early mornings, late evenings, or during rain. Reducing speed and avoiding sudden turns or braking can help prevent accidents on black ice.
