Black Hawk Down refers to a US military operation in October 1993 during the Battle of Mogadishu in Somalia. Tasked with capturing a key warlord's lieutenants, elite Army Rangers and Delta Force soldiers inserted via Black Hawk helicopters. The mission went awry when two helicopters were shot down, leading to intense urban combat. Surrounded and under heavy fire, troops fought for survival amidst chaotic conditions until rescue efforts succeeded. The operation highlighted the complexities and dangers of urban warfare, and it resulted in the deaths of 18 American soldiers and many hours of fierce firefighting.
