Bitcoin (Cryptocurrency)
Bitcoin is a digital currency, or cryptocurrency, created in 2009 by an anonymous person or group known as Satoshi Nakamoto. It enables peer-to-peer transactions over the internet without the need for intermediaries like banks. Transactions are recorded on a public ledger called the blockchain, which ensures security and transparency. Bitcoin can be used for online purchases or as an investment. Its value fluctuates based on market demand and is limited to 21 million coins, making it a deflationary asset. Though innovative, it has also raised concerns regarding volatility, regulation, and environmental impact due to energy-intensive mining processes.
