Birtherism

Birtherism is a conspiracy theory that falsely claimed President Barack Obama was not born in the United States and therefore was ineligible to be president. Proponents questioned his birth certificate, fueling doubts about his citizenship and legitimacy. The movement persisted despite official records showing he was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. Birtherism is often viewed as rooted in political and racial biases, and it significantly impacted political discourse during and after Obama's presidency.
