Birth Mothers

Birth mothers are women who carry and give birth to a child. In the context of adoption, a birth mother is the biological mother of a child who may choose to place the child for adoption, often for reasons such as financial challenges, personal circumstances, or inability to provide adequate care. The term emphasizes the woman's role in childbirth and the emotional and practical complexities involved in the adoption process. Birth mothers may have varying degrees of contact with the child post-adoption, ranging from open, where they maintain communication, to closed, with no contact at all.
