Birmingham Hip Resurfacing
Birmingham Hip Resurfacing is a surgical procedure designed to repair damaged hip joints. Instead of removing the entire ball-and-socket joint like traditional hip replacements, this technique preserves most of the natural bone. The surgeon caps the existing femoral head (ball) with a metal cover and resurfaces the worn-out socket with a metal lining. This approach allows for more natural joint movement and is often recommended for younger, more active patients. It offers benefits like easier future revisions and quicker recovery, while maintaining better bone integrity compared to traditional hip surgery.
