Bird Fancier's Lung

Bird Fancier's Lung, also known as bird breeder's or pigeon fancier's lung, is a type of hypersensitive pneumonitis caused by an allergic reaction to proteins found in bird droppings, feathers, or shed skin. When exposed to these sources over time, the immune system reacts by inflaming the lungs, leading to symptoms like cough, shortness of breath, and fatigue. It's commonly seen in people who keep or work with birds. Treatment involves avoiding exposure and, in some cases, corticosteroids to reduce inflammation. Early diagnosis and management can prevent serious lung damage.
