Bion's Theory of Thinking
Bion's Theory of Thinking suggests that our mind processes thoughts through two main states: container and contained. The "container" is our ability to think, analyze, and make sense of experiences, while the "contained" refers to raw emotional feelings and unprocessed thoughts. Effective thinking occurs when the container successfully holds and makes sense of what is contained. Sometimes, emotional distress can overwhelm the container, hindering clear thought. Bion emphasizes that our capacity to think critically is essential for understanding ourselves and managing emotions, helping us move from chaos to insight and emotional stability.
