Biomimetics

Biomimetics is the practice of designing and developing new technologies or solutions inspired by nature’s models, systems, and processes. By studying how plants, animals, and ecosystems solve problems, engineers and scientists create innovations that are efficient, sustainable, and effective. For example, the design of Velcro was inspired by how burrs stick to animal fur, and airplane wings mimic bird flight. Biomimetics leverages nature’s centuries of evolution to solve human challenges, leading to advancements in materials, robotics, medicine, and more, while often promoting environmentally friendly solutions.
